Focus on Being Productive NOT Busy!!

There is a major difference between being busy and being productive. 99% of people are busy…there is no doubt that a lot of people in business, network marketing, and life in general feel overwhelmed and feel like their day is jammed with things to do. focus_on_being_productive_instead_of_busyThe problem is when you reflect on what you do everyday, are you being productive or are you being busy? Most people are consumed with busy work that does not move them forward, that does not progress their life, or does not serve as a forward step in their business, health, or personal goals. When you take an honest assessment of your day, are you reacting to requests from your boss, from your friends, from your family, from bill collectors, and all the other parts of life that consume our brains? Or do you take action on the items of your to do list that are creating action and results for your goals whether they are personal, professional, financial, or for your health? Chances are the majority of people are really just busy (myself included for many years), so this leads to a good question, how can you set yourself up everyday to be exceptionally productive? Here is one tip that many powerful business owners and successful network marketers use to create that productivity every single day.

10 Before 10 or 12 Before 12

You need to take massive action from the moment you wake up until lunchtime.  time for actionMost people fade with their energy in the afternoon heading into the early evening, and if you leave the action taking, productive items until then a lot of your mental energy will be spent already and it is easier to say, “I’ll do this tomorrow”. Has that ever happened to you? The massive action takers and some of the most successful people in all walks of life have knocked out more on their to do list before most people have even gotten out of bed. There is a book by Brian Tracy called “Eat That Frog” where he talks about knocking out those most important, productive tasks that are most critical to your goals first thing in the morning. 10 Before 10 or 12 before 12 is a good measuring stick to figure out how productive you are in the morning.

Pick 10 before 10, 12 before 12, Andrew does 16 before noon and I do 12 before 12. Your goal is to complete 10 or 12 actions before noon every single day that are the most critical to your wealth, health, personal, and business goals. Here is an example of what Andrew does for his 16 before Noon:things to do today

  • 4AM – Wake Up
  • 4:15-5:15 – Work Out & Consume Video or Audio Training
  • 5:15-6:15 – Blog & Email List
  • 6:15-6:30 – Shower
  • 6:30-6:45 – Meditate
  • 6:45-7:00 – Afformations
  • 7:00-7:15 – Get Dressed for Work
  • 7:15-7:30 – Commute to Work & Drink Breakfast Shake
  • 7:30-Noon – Usually has 7-10 items to check off on his work to do list by noon

By this point he typically has 16 massive taking action items checked off his to do list by noon. 4-5 years ago there were times when he would have taken barely any action by noon like most people, or if he did take action it was on busy work or reacting to requests that did not serve his professional, personal, or financial goals. Now, even if he has an awful afternoon, he has already taken more action than most people do all week. This not only leads to massive results it also leads to a stress free life because half way through your day you have taken action on the top 10-12 things that will lead to the most results for you personal, professional, wealth, and health goals. It is a great feeling to sit down and have lunch and know that you have already knocked out the most important items on your to do list.
